- Abelia grandiflora X 'Edward Goucher'
- This 1911 hybrid from the US is a compact evergreen shrub H:3
W:5 with a graceful arching form. Lilac/pink flowers with orange centers. A lovely
plant that blooms all Summer-Fall. Adaptable, but prefers sun, regular water and good
drainage.
- Acer circinatum, Vine Maple
- Small elegant tree, 15 X 15 Zones 4-8 All season beauty PNW Native,
Prefers moist soil.
- Achlys tryphilla, Vanilla Leaf
- PNW Perennial White Starry Flowers in Summer Does Well in Dry Shade Sweet
Scent When Dried.
- Acorus gramineus 'Variegatus', Japanese Sweet Flag
- Perennial from Japan with evergreen, narrow iris-like leaves. Fans of
foliage pale green with cream edges. Durable and easily grown. Loves a wet spot.

- Evergreen shrublet to 10", lovely, small slate blue leaves. Covered
in pink flowers all Summer. Likes a sunny, dry site
- Antennaria rosea, Rosy Pussy Toes
- PNW native perennial. Wooly bluish basal leaves mat forming. White
flowers edged in pink on 3" -16 " stems. Full sun, moderate water
- Aquilegia formosa, Red Columbine
- Fabulous PNW perennial! Nodding bright red flowers with impressive yellow
stamens. Does best in sunny moist sites. Upright with delicate foliage.
- Araucaria araucana, Monkey Puzzle Tree
- Unique evergreen conifer from Chile. Fast growth to 80' tall. Massive
straight trunk. Zones 7-9
- Arctostaphylos andersonii, Santa Cruz Manzanita
- This evergreen shrub from CA's Bay Area grows to about 12 feet tall, and
almost as wide. Dark cinnamon peeling bark; leaves glaucous green, new growth red. Pink
flowers are profuse in late February.

- Native to Santa Cruz CA Mtns, Evergrey shrub 6'-8' Tall and wide. Velvet
grey foliage, brilliant red bark. Dislikes summer water.
- Arctostaphylos tomentosa X andersonii
- Evergreen shrub to 12'-15' tall, half as wide. Prolific white flowers in
early March. Native to Central California coast. Rare and endangered in native habitat.
Our original plant was purchased from University of California, Santa Cruz in 2001 and is
now 10' tall.

- Evergreen trailing ground-cover shrub.Circumpolar, this vigorous
selection is from NE US. Small round leaves with bright red berries. Prefers sunny or
part-sun, well drained site. Zones: 4-9
- Arctostaphylos X 'White Lanterns'
- Evergreen shrub with showy white flowers to about 6' tall X 8' wide..
Deep maroon bark. Disease resistant and drought tolerant. Zones: 8 - 10
- Armeria maritima, Sea Thrift
- PNW native evergreen perennial wildflower. Forms low clumps of grass-like
foliage. Bright pink flowers adorn this easy to grow, drought tolerant sun lover. Zones:
4-10
- Aruncus dioicus, Goat's Beard
- PNW perennial, semi-evergreen. This graceful flowing plant with fern-like
foliage and white plume flowers is perfect at pond edge or woodland openings. Zone: 5-9.
- Asarum caudatum, Wild Ginger
- PNW native perennial ground cover. Heart shaped deep green shiny leaves
and hidden treasure flowers. Blooming in midsummer, the warm brown thimble shaped flowers
are beneath the leaves Loves moist, shade or part sun woodland garden. Great combined with
maidenhair fern. Though commonly called ginger, the abundant roots are not edible. Zones:
5-8
- Callistemon pityoides, Mountain Bottlebrush
- One of the hardiest bottlebrushes. Linear leaves with pinkish new growth.
Flowers are creamy yellow blooming in late Spring. H: 6', W: 7', Zones: 7
- Callistemon 'Violaceus'
- New to us, this evergreen shrub Callistemon grows to 4' to 6' tall. The
narrow leaves are a gorgeous blue green. The brushes seem to glow violet-red. Needs sun,
drought tolerant. Zones: 8 or 9.
- Callistemon viridiflorus, Green Bottlebrush
- Evergreen shrub to 8' X 8'. Stiff small pointed leaves. Red buds in
Spring, greenish-yellow brushes. Likes full sun, needs good drainage. Zone: 7-8
- Calycanthus occidentalis, Western
Spice Bush
- This deciduous CA shrub grows to 10' tall and wide. Its long leaves and
large maroon flowers with a wine-like scent make it a great pick for a moist site.
Tropical look. Zone: 7-10
- Camassia leichtlinii, Great Camas
- Native lily of Washington and Oregon. Sturdy stems to 48" tall. Many
brilliant blue star-flowers open in succession. Does well in soggy soil.
- Camassia quamash, Camas
- PNW native lily. Bright blue star-like flowers borne on 12" to
20" stems. Native to moist prairies and meadows that dry completely by summer.
- Cardamine trifolia
- Long-lived evergreen perennial. One of first to bloom in the Spring.
Sparkling white flowers atop 6" stems. Bright green well-behaved woodland carpet.
Drought tolerant.
- Carex flagellifera 'Bronze Hair
Sedge'
- Evergreen, grass-like perennial. Arching foliage in shades of bronze to
purplish, 24"-36". Tough and long-lived, likes full sun to part shade.Drought
tolerant.
- Carex morrowii , 'Ice Dance'
- Tufted plants that merrily form clumps of deep green blades striped with
white to 30" tall. Evergreen, likes sun accommodating as to soil
- Carex oshimensis , 'Evergold'
- Distinctive evergreen grass-like plant. Tufted clumps of narrow blades
striped dark green and gold. Arching tufts are about 12" tall, prefers sun, quite
accommodating.
- Carpentaria californica, Carpentaria 'Elizabeth'
- Evergreen shrub native to central CA Mtns. Fragrant large white flowers
with prominent yellow stamens. Requires warm sunny site, sheltered in the northwest. Zone:
8-10
- Ceanothus gloriosus, Pt. Reyes Ceanothus
- Low evergreen shrub h:6" x w:3'Glossy dark green foliage adorned in
rich blue flowers in Spring. Central CA coast native, likes sun, well-drained soil.
Perfect for holding soil on inclines. Zone: 7-9
- Ceanothus thyrsiflorus, 'Oregon Mist'
- This flowering evergreen shrub is fast growing to 8' X 8'. Gorgeous
glossy green foliage with sky blue Spring blooms. An Oregon native, it is hardy to 0-5
degrees.
- Ceanothus X 'Concha'
- Evergreen shrub to 7'X7' with narrow ribbed leaves and dark blue flowers.
Unlike some ceanothus, Concha tolerates summer water. It thrives in full sun. Drought
tolerant.
- Ceanothus X 'Julia Phelps'
- Evergreen shrub to 7' X 7'. Small dark green curled leaves and
unforgettable Spring bloom of dark indigo flowers. Prefers full sun, good drainage
- Ceanothus X 'Ray Hartman'
- Evergreen shrub or small tree to 15'X15'. Bright blue flowers spring to
summer. Tolerates summer water. Thrives in full sun, well drained. All ceanothus provide a
rich source of nectar for native bees, butterflies and food for their larvae.
- Ceanothus X 'Victoria'
- Evergreen shrub to 5' tall X 6' wide.Very dark blue flower spikes and
crinkled glossy deep green leaves. Victoria is a Northwest favorite and a "Great
Plant Pick". As with almost all ceanothus it thrives in full sun and is drought
tolerant.
- Choisya ternata, Mexican Orange
- Evergreen shrub commonly named for its unforgettable orange blossom
scented flowers blooming several times a year. Forms a compact rounded shape of glossy
green leaves. Zone 7 with shelter
- Clethra barbinervis, Japanese Sweet Shrub
- Multi-stemmed deciduous shrub or small tree to 10' with orange-brown
peeling bark. Fragrant panicles of white flowers bloom in Summer, drying to decorate for
rest of season. Rich fall color. Zones: 4-9
- Cornus nuttallii , Pacific Dogwood
- Our woodland Queen! This PNW native is a magnificent deciduous tree to 80
feet tall. Her showy cream color flowers and red fruit followed by royal fall color make
her a must for the large garden or woodland edge. But, alas, she tends toward fussiness,
disliking summer water or transplanting after 3 feet tall. Does best in well-ventilated
site.
- Cornus sanguinea, Bloodtwig Dogwood
- Deciduous shrub to 10' high. Glossy foliage turns deep red in Fall as an
opening act for the winter show featuring brilliant red twigs. White flowers in 2"
clusters in the Spring. Attractive black berries. Does well in wet sites, prune severely
in spring to best display winter twigs.
- Cornus unalaschkensis,
Bunchberry
- PNW native perennial forming carpet of delightful oval leaves with
prominent veins. In summer, lovely cream "dogwood flowers" followed by showy red
fruit. This charming ground cover makes any PNW woodland complete. Moist shade to part
shade.
- Cyclamen, hederifolium
- Distinctive heart-shaped leaves and rose-pink (sometimes white) flowers
make this tuberous perennial a delightful addition to any shady spot. The down-facing
flowers most often bloom when no foliage is present. Good drainage
