- Mahonia aquifolium, Shining Tall
Oregon Grape.
- This PNW native is a good architectural shrub. Distinctive multi-stem
structure, deep-yellow fragrant flowers, large leathery leaves. Purplish fruit even makes
great jam. Zones: 5-10.
- Mahonia nervosa Low Oregon Grape
- Evergreen PNW native shrub 2'-3' tall and wide. The spiny-edged leaves
turn deep red in winter. Yellow flowers followed by edible blue berries. Likes shade to
part sun. Drought tolerant. Zones: 5-10.
- Maianthemum (Smilacina) racemosum Large Solomon's Seal
- Elegant PNW native with a single long arching stalk crowned with a
cluster of flowers at the end. The 2"-5" cluster is composed of 20 or more tiny
white fragrant flowers. Leaves along the stem appear pleated. Flowers become green berries
that turn bright red with age. This lily does best in part shade, moist soil. It is a
great nectar plant for bumblebees.
- Maianthemum (Smilacina) stellatum Star Solomon's Seal
- Also a PNW native lily, Star Solomon's Seal is a bit shorter than the
Large Solomon's Seal, 2' as compared to 3'. Its flowers are fewer, but they are creamy
white star-like, and quite charming. Berries become blue/black. Loves a moist part shady
spot.
- Mimulus aurantiacus Bush Monkey

- PNW native perennial with burnished gold flowers. Blooms throughout
summer. Sun or part shade, likes a warm, well-drained soil. In some Puget Sound locations
it may die to the ground in a cold winter, mulching in fall offers protection

- Vigorous clumping perennial with scarlet tubular flowers. Long blooming,
throughout summer. Native to OR and CA, sun or part shade are fine; requires moist soil.
- Mimulus lewisii Great Purple Monkeyflower
- Another PNW native perennial monkeyflower, this one has beautiful
rose/pink flowers with a distinct yellow throat. Can reach 3'-4' tall, requires a wet
spot. Very showy. Zones: 3-9.

- PNW native shrub to 12' tall x 8' wide. Fast-growing with evergreen
fragrant leaves. Inconspicuous flowers are followed by purple fruits favored by birds.
Screen or hedge, sun or shade also a coastal favorite.

- Evergreen PNW spreading native shrub to 1' to 2' tall. Makes a neat low
hedge or understory plant. Prefers filtered shade, woodland edge.

- Quercus breweri Brewer's Oak
- A PNW deciduous tree, sometimes classified as a dwarf Garry Oak. This
shrubby oak forms thickets of green on the rocky slopes of Oregon's Klamath Range, south
to scattered stands in California Mtns. In the garden, Brewer's Oak makes a great specimen
shade tree or grouped for wildlife cover. A good grower, height to 15', likes sun but is
very adaptable. Hardy to Zone: 6
- Quercus chrysolepis Canyon Live Oak
- This evergreen tree is exceptional, from its round, wide form, to its
fuzzy turban acorn cups you will love the beauty of this tree. This tree is variable,
young leaves are light green, as they mature become bluish green. Some leaves are toothed,
some not. This tree is adaptable; native to the mountain slopes of southwestern Oregon to
Baja California from sea level to 9,000 feet it tolerates everything except wet feet and
deep shade. It can reach a height of 70ft. and width of 30 ft. Our seeds are from the most

- PNW native deciduous tree oak. The Pride of Puget Sound Prairies, the
only oak native to WA. Their prairie habitat is vanishing, less than 10% is left. Garry
oaks prefer sunny or part-sun sites, well-drained without added summer water. Good
wildlife benefits.
- Quercus hypoleucoides Silver Leaf Oak
- Beautiful, small evergreen tree with luxuriant, thick green leaves. The
lush velvety-white undersides of its leaves are particularly pleasing. Native to the
mountains of the US southwest it is reliable hardy here and drought tolerant. Zones: 7-10

- Although native to the Mediterranean this evergreen tree is completely at
home here in the Pacific Northwest. Its glossy leathery green leaves are narrow and
untoothed with a silvery velvet underside. A fabulous shade or street tree. It does well
in sea winds and salt air.

- Tall deciduous tree native to eastern US Mtns. Broad crown, and furrowed
bark. Dark green leaves turn yellow/orange in fabulous fall color. Moisture loving, but

- This is a rugged small evergreen tree with a round crown that may reach
25-30 feet tall. Its thick leaves are bluish green, with yellowish underside. It
prolifically produces acorns at a young age. A gem for the small garden, great bonsai,
too. Zones: 7-11.

Deer Oak
- PNW evergreen shrub to 6'. This is the finest evergreen shrub oak; low
and spreading with huge lustrous leaves. Native to the ridge tops of the Siskiyous, it is
resilient, able to withstand drought as well as our rainy winters. Sun is ok, prefers
dappled shade, and requires good drainage. Siskiyou Seed Collected.

- Quercus vaccinifolia Huckleberry Oak
- PNW compact evergreen shrub. Slow growing to 3' tall and wide. Fabulous
bonsai, and great in rockery or border. Sun and well-drained site, drought tolerant.
